Cadet Josh Zeyfang
Josh Zeyfang joined CAP (Pennsylvania Wing) in December of 2000 at the age of 11. Throughout his CAP career he attended several wing activities and NCSAs including COS, SUPT-FC, IACE (Turkey), and Powered Flight Academy (Nebraska). He currently holds the rank of c/Lt. Col. Cadet Zeyfang attended SUPT-FC (formerly known as AETC-FC) in 2005 and returned in 2006 as cadet staff. In 2007 and 2008 he supported the program as ROTC staff. Cadet Zeyfang is a contracted cadet with Detachment 630, Kent State University, and is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Akron (Akron, OH). He is expecting to graduate and commission in 2012 perusing a pilot slot to fly F-16s or F-22s.
“I have been aspiring to be a military aviator since the age of three and have participated in relevant and pertinent activities throughout my life to give me the best opportunity to succeed and meet this goal. SUPT-FC was no different. It may be a small taste of Air Force training, but trust me, it’s enough for you to know what will be expected at UPT. I have seen CAP cadets encouraged by the program to work harder to fly in the Air Force…and I’ve also seen cadets who realized that there’s more to it the glamour and started seeking other AFSCs. Regardless of career choice, every cadet will go home with lifelong skills that can be applied to any career field, civilian or military. SUPT-FC is one of best NSCAs that Civil Air Patrol offers, and is by far the best activity if you want to fly Air Force aircraft or want to know what it takes to become a United States Air Force Aviator.”
